About Roy
Roy grew up in Tottenham during the difficult years of the Second World War, where family, community and resilience shaped his early life. His memories bring vividly to life a very different Tottenham — from bombs falling locally and children playing through wartime disruption, to the sacrifices his mother made to keep the family together. Later, Roy completed National Service as an Army cook, developed a lifelong passion for fishing and became known for his humour, warmth and down-to-earth outlook. Above all, Roy remembers his mum as the backbone of the family, and his stories capture a life lived with strength, laughter and a simple belief in treating people as you would want to be treated yourself.
